Connect More

Overview

Through a series of literature review, community interviews, and visual ethnography, we designed and propose ConnectMore: a set of specially-designed modular tables that serve as an inviting physical intervention in the urban environment to combat loneliness and encourage social connection. ConnectMore provides reason and 'permission' for interaction. Our goal is to develop a sense of 'play'-- encouraging a return to childhood curiosity while breaking down the self-imposed barriers to connection that often come with aging. ConnectMore addresses our key findings:

1. Meeting people where they are. 2.Connection is tied to space and belonging. 3.Emphasis on multigenerational relationships. 4.Routine and familiarity bring people together. 5.Participation depends on accessibility. Giving permission to reach out.
