An underused rail corridor reimagined as public space.

56 Brattle St., is part of the African American Trail Project, which uses historical sites to examine contemporary social movements. The woman who owned the home on site, Mary Walker, was a runaway slave from the South who moved to Massachusetts to seek refuge. In a climate where justice and quality require continuous advocacy, it became essential for the design to resonate with this powerful story. This exercise aimed to link design with history and people.
